140 serial #

I just bought a 140 that has a serial # of 4736J.
It is 6 volt/dist. It has the pull lever starter
with push/pull ignition button (no key)It has an
engine serial # 77657. It has the styled hood and
grill so it has to be between late 63 and when the
tractors changed over to 12 valt in the late 60"s.
This isn"t the first one of these that I have seen
that was mid/late 60"s with a 4 digit serial # but I
can"t find a list that shows these.
 
Strange/// My 140HC is very very close( within 200)
to your serial number and I also have the newer
sheet metal. But the strange thing is when I bought
mine it had been sitting in a shed for 35+++ years
untouched fellow bought the farm and never touched
the tractor that came with it.
and the sheet metal, gas tank ect. all look to be
not repainted
 
Not that strange, about anything could have happened in the nearly twenty years before it was abandoned in the barn.
 
Very True Jim, The sad part is I would like to put
the correct grill on this tractor, but I would be
hard pressed to find some as good as the newer style
thats on there now. But
