560 Hydraulic Control valve

I have a 560 gas with dual hydraulics plus a fast hitch.

It is equipped with a Koyker K2 loader.

The lifting system for the loader works fine as well as the fast hitch. However the control valve that curls the bucket quit working properly yesterday.

It will not hold it"s position.

I switched the hoses between the systems then the bucket worked fine. So I am to assume that it is the control valve to that system at fault. Is that correct or could it be something else.

The bucket control valve doesn"t work as freely as the lifting control valve. It makes me think there may be a damaged o-ring hindering the movement of the spool.

How do I go about removing and rebuilding the control valve or can it be done with removing it from the tractor.

My shop manual doesn't cover this part if the hydraulic system, it only covers the tele-depth valve which seems to be different.

The control valve for the bucket is the far right unit looking from the seat and the photo I attached. It has a knob for switching from single action to dual action cylinders.

Thanks for your time.

There is no o-ring or seal that prevents leak down in that valve. It is a spool valve, metal to metal fit. You may have a check valve off of that valve. I will be a block either bolted under your valve or might be bolted to seat with hoses running in one side and out the other with plugs to take it apart. There are O-rings in there that will cause your problem.

Hold as in the bucket is slowly moving, or won't hold as in the detent, pull lever down and it stays there until the bucket is back up and lever returns to center?

If it is the second you have a broken garter spring.

If it is the first Pete is right.

Guess I never gave it a thought about the lever itself holding in detent. Seems like most garter springs have been broken for about 40 years now. Good point.

I've had the entire control valve apart. The garter spring is fine.

It snaps into the neutral position positively when it doesn't have the cover with 2 bolts on it in the vise. But when the cover is put back on it binds up. The link to switch from single to dual cyl is the culprit I think. I don't think it is positively engaged into the dual mode.

It had clearly been apart before and someone had messed with the link. I have readjusted that link by bending it different ways at least 10 times to no avail. Not sure if the individual parts are avail at the Case/IH for this or not. I know the rebuild kits aren't.

A used guaranteed one is $100. I think I am going that route.

The bucket is slowly moving, but I don't think it is positively getting into the detent because of the single to dual link binding and holding the spool out of the true neutral position.

Thank you all for your input I will keep you informed when I get it fixed as to what the problem was.

Are you sure the link is not in upside down. With the two bolt cover off, you should be able to hold that link without it moving up or down with the valve spool when moving lever. I have seen them bent all different directions from not being aligned when cover was put on and also when roll pin breaks, they can get twisted way out of shape.

I think mine must be reversed. I remember it was flopping all over the place when I was putting the cover on.

I has a putty knife in there trying to keep it aligned properly.

I did try once to put in on the other way just to see how it acted but it wouldn't slide over the spool.

It seemed to have a larger opening on one side than the other. I put the larger opening over the spool. Which is how it came off.
