I need a replacement frog for an IH model 450 Super Chief plow. Price from Case/IH dealer is $468. Does anyone know of a cheaper place to buy one or where I can get a good used one? Thanks Kathleen

ken Hawks. I live in EWllenburg. What did you do with the old frog? I do not need the entire plow just the frog. $468 was a quote from Dragoons.

Kent. my typing is poor. I live in Ellenburg on the Ryan Road. phone 425 3509. Chuck Nichols will help me fix my plow yes please look to see if you have the old frog. Maybe Chuck can use it to fix mine. I just paid $100 for new points. Wayne Pourpore is looking for a set of plows. Please call me if you find the old frog. Thanks Kathleen

Bought one from Dragoons four or five years ago $230. Wow, did not think parts went up that much? Will sell ours $700 3 btm 3 pt IH Mccormick. We live in Mooers.

lots of good replys. Thanks. I called Shuop and they do not sell frogs. Rootsy- I live in northern New York state about 6 miles from the Canadian border of Qubec and about 45 minutes from Vermont. My son lives in Sycrause. Can you ship a frog to me if you are quite a distance? I need the 4 hole. What is your price. Do you accept checks or only Money Orders? thanks Kathleen

If you can't find a part number on the frog look for numbers on the wear parts, or the moldboard brace.

I think mkirsch is correct on the current part number for a Super Chief Frog with a 4-bolt share.
Used ones are available at many tractor/implement salvage yards, but you have to know what you have/want, or have your part to compare to their part.
I don't recall anyone ever offering new frogs aftermarket.
Salford and Arts-Way make plows today with IH/CIH bottoms on them, but I don't know if the bolt patterns for the frog-to-beam mounts are the same as the IH/CIH plows, nor do I have any knowledge of their parts pricing.

By the way, Shoup's website doesn't list frogs. Everything else, but no frogs.

The bottoms are actually treated as separate implements from the plow, for when you're looking things up in the parts books. You won't find bottom info under the 450 plow.
There are a couple different Super Chief frogs. One with a 3-bolt point/share and one with a 4-bolt point/share. They probably come under many different part numbers, since they have been in production for 60+ years. The frogs are the same from 14-16-18-20-22" bottoms, and they will fit anything from a 1928 Little Genius all the way up to a brand new CaseIH moldboard plow.

I think the current number is 224130C2.
