51 super c gear oil leak

did a 15 mile round trip in 4 th gear on my 51 super c the other day. after I parked it gear oil leaked out about a 15 in. circle of gear oil. it looks like it leaked out were the rear end and tramsmission section bolts to the tourque tube. is that a seal issue. should I just watch my oil level and continue to use the tractor. are should I split the tractor and change the seal. and if I do split it what else should I change while its split.

Odd that it leaks out there, figured it would run down the torgue tube to the hole at the bottom of the bell housing, but maybe being gear oil it cools and just doesn"t travel that far.
If you split it of course I change the throw out and pilot bearings, check over your clutch disc and pressure plate real well. the one place to play particular attention to is the bolts/nuts at the joint of the drive shaft...we had a couple loosen up and eventually back out, had to replace the whle joint! Good luck!

Sounds like the front seal on the transmission input shaft. First off, is the transmission overfull? Check for water at the drain plug. If contaminated, flush it and refill but don't fill above the level plug.

If after that you still have a leak, replace the input shaft seal. To do that you need to split it between the bell housing and the transmission. Only split it as far as you need to access the u-joint in the input shaft. Take that joint apart to get to the rest of the disassembly. Do not pull the front part of the shaft out of the bell housing any more than required to get at the joint. If you pull it too far, it will drop out of the throwout bearing carrier. Good luck if you do that.

Accessing clutch parts requires a split between the bell housing and the engine. You should not need to do that as part of this job.

True but with all the steering and throttle linkeages and such
already disconnected no better time to pull her apart at the bell
housing and at least check out the clutch...as nominal as the
cost of throw out bearing and pilot bushing are Id be replacing
them even if all seems good once you are in that far!

On my H I replaced the gear oil, and then had leaks. A man told me to stuff a little toilet paper in there and let the gears grind it up. Sounded funny, but it did do the trick, no more leaks….this was some years ago. Make sure that the gear oil is not part of any other system, e.g. hydraulic
