clutch won't disengage

A neighbor brought a Farmall H in for me to paint. This was about a week ago. After I got done painting the tractor I started it up and tried to put it into gear but the clutch wouldn't disengage. I tried starting it in gear and then braking to try to get it to break loose but to no avail. It was working fine when it came in. Does anyone have any ideas what went wrong and how to go about correcting other than removing the clutch. Thanks Larry

With safety in mind, get it backed out and drive it around in 3rd gear with the clutch blocked down. The amount of force to brake it loose should be moderate. Use of the brakes and safe free travel area are critical. Throttle it up, so the break away force is strong. Another method is to put it in high gear (hardest to turn) leave the ignition off, and hit the starter a few times this puts pretty good force on the Clutch (blocked down), and is less intense than the other way. #1 block the clutch down and then let sit 24 hours. Then if you can take it out and rive it around in the highest gear that will be safe holding the clutch down and if you can put a load on it like a weight etc to pull. Most likely condensation has rusted the clutch plate to the flywheel

If it only sat for a week it most likely isn't a rust stuck disk. I would guess one of the lever pivot pins came out. If the pins are installed backwards the cotter pin will wear of and the pin will come out.

Have you tied the clutch pedal down then looked at the pressure plate to see if the throwout bearing has enguaged the pressure plate enough to release the clutch disc. How much pedal lash do you have.
