Temporary Wiring - 1951 Cub

Okay - after hooking up 6 volt positive ground battery to teh battery cables AND NOT the jumper cables, my cub cranks fine. The next step is to wire so I can see if I get spark. I am going to by pass the ignition and ampmeter cause I already dismantled the dash. I only want to see if I can get spark and then maybe fire....then I strip down the rest of the way.

Question...if I by pass the dash, I will wire from the starter directly to the regulator BAT. Then the wire coming out of the regulator from I will go directly to the negative terminal on the coil.

I realize that the current will be constant to the coil so I will build in a temp switch somewhere in circuit.

Any advice?

Just run a simple hot wire as in since it is + ground a wire from the - side of the battery to the coil. That way you know if it will fire or not and if you hook it up the right way if something goes wrong it is a simple pull hard to pull it off. Run many an old engine that way. By the way if when you hook up the hot wire you notice a spark then you know the points are working if a distributor type system. If no spark the points are open of need some TLC
