Farmall 460 stalls

My gas fired 460 stalls immediately upon putting a load on it. Will move itself with the choke out 3/4 way. Always starts immediately, condition prevails when engine is hot, cold. Outside temp makes no difference. Engine has fresh plugs/points/rotor/condenser/wires. Carb recently rebuilt. All the easy stuff in an effort to solve the problem.

Suggestions as to where to look next?

Your engine is starved for fuel. Open the power needle a half turn or more. Open the fuel bowl drain - you should get a pencil-sized stream of fuel. Take out the lawn mower sized in-line fuel filter if someone put one in. Check for blockage in the fuel strainer in the tank and in the line into the carburetor. See if the gas tank cap vent is plugged.

The spring-loaded flapper in the manifold. Spring likely broken. Look for spiral spring on outside of manifold just above carb.

Just cleared up the same problem in my 460 this weekend. Fuel was adjusted too lean, it would idle OK, but stumbled under any acceleration. Mine has a fine line between being rich enough to not stumble when accelerating and not running gassy when at low idle.
