Farmall Cub - Gas Tank

Gents, I am looking for solutions....hopefully local solutions. The gas tank on my 51 Cub is heavily rusted and there are three small holes near the bottom edge (I knew this going into the project). I want to have the tank professionally cleaned and then repaired. I have put a chain in it and soaked diesal in it, but it still is full of rust. Shaking this is not easy and I doubt it would remove all flakey rust! I am on the good side of this project and want to preserve the original metal and I am willing to pay....

Anyone have any suggestions on services that offer or where in the Houston, Tx area I might look? What kind of services normally do this?

check with a local radiator repair shop. That's where i get my gas tanks cleaned. you might have to find repair elsewhere.
 
get the tank steamed out and the holes brazed shut. Then, have the tank coated with a quality sealer. Chances are good that if its rusted out in a few places, its very close to rusted out in others. REDCOTE is a brand I've used with good results. Don't be cheap on it.. buy a couple of cans and thoroughly coat the inside. If your tank is decently clean, it will last for many, many years.
 
If your tank is rusted as bad as you say no cleaning will do a complete job unless you open the tank. Use a sawzall and cut around the seam. Then clean it and make the repairs from the inside. When it it welded back together then coat the inside.
 
If you decide to get another tank I have one however there has been some Bondo in the seam between the hood and gastank, easy fix.
 
Get another tank and be done with it. Yoy will spend more money and time on that one and still have prblems.
 
Much easier to find a better tank, I kmow I like to try and save the old stuff also, but this is a road I have been down and everytime it would have been cheaper to find a good tank
