Broke the idle tube on Cub carb

Well.... I went ahead and let my big hands get int he way and broke the idle tube off right where it goes into the top half of the carb (Cub). Is here a remedy? Luckily I received two carbs when I bought the tractor.....should I just use the half of the other one? Or can I replace the idel tube on broke one.

I noted that the two halves have a bit of a gap (without the gasket mounted). It seemed to be there when matching up either top (broken idel and none broken idle). IS this common. Does the gasket solve the gap problem.

Poster's update....okay, I researched it and found that the idle tube is threaded and can be replaced.....HOWEVER, it is snapped off flush. Any thoughts?

If you try to back it out of the threads, one thing I have found is that it is probably "glued" in with fuel varnish. A little bit of heat will loosen the varnish.

The tubes are available, and are threaded. It takes a 4-48 tap and a #42 drill. I just did one. $18 shipped for the tube, and about $10 fro the drill and tap.

Sometimes using a 1/16" left hand drill bit with a hand chuck will work. The bit will bite into the tube and back it out.
