IH Chest Freezer Model 111

I have a IH model 111 freezer in my basement that I've had for around 10 years that I got from a lawn mowing client just for moving it. She just wanted it out of her basement it took about 5 of us to get it out of her basement onto a trailer and into mine. We had to remove the lid and hinges and her basement door to get it out and left the lid and hinges off to get in my basement from an outdoor entrance. I've been trying to figure out how old it might be does anyone know when these were made.

Folks got a IH frig and a freezer in the late 40's. Freezer walls about 5 inches thick. I do remember mom telling me she didn't need that ol icebox any more.

my memory is not as good as it use to be but I think IH sold the refridgeration plant to whirlpool in 1955 or 56.

I've got one that came with my house that I still use a couple weeks a year when we have some steers butchered. Works great. Don't think it's easy on electricity though.

According to my book IH sold the refrigeration line in 1955. The bought and built a plant in Evansville Indiana in 1946, however IH was building milk coolers prior to that. I don't know when they started building chest freezers.

The folks bought one in about '48 and had it for years. When they moved back to the farm in the '80s, it must have gotten damaged in the move and didn't work. As I recall, it was about 15 or 16 cu/ft.
When Mom sold the farm in about '95 it was in the barn and had been used for calf starter feed.

Just questioned my sis and got an email back that Mom left the farm in 1998... later than I thought.

Mom and dad had one, it wound up at my sister's house in the 70s, then they sold it in about 1978. I helped move that big monster to the people that bought it.
