ok, finely got that worn out C back to its owner, running fine with a woods mower deck. thanks, all. now, getting my A and SC out of storage, i had dryer sheets to keep rodence out of wires. started the SC, and one was on the regulator and dont show a charge. what steps to find the problem? batt is charged and fan belts are tight. thanks.

Take a screwdriver handle & rap on the regulator cover when the engine is running 3/4 throttle or so. Maybe the contact points are needing to be cleaned.
Shut the engine off and pull a paper bill ($1,$5,$10, or whatever you have handy) through the points and try running the engine again. Hold the points together gently when you do this.

Remember to disconnect the Bat terminal on the regulator and keep it from touching anything before cleaning!! those are live contacts. Jim
