Regular NT Pulley Question

I have a 1931 Farmall Regular NT (narrow tread) and it does not have belt pulley attachment. I thought one day I might buy one to put on, but I see in the parts book (TC-6-C) that only a special pulley will fit NT models (p/n: 1592DX). What's the difference between this and a wide tread pulley (1549DBX)? They both show as 14" diameter and 6-1/2" face. Does it matter anyway? Could I fit the wide tread version on my NT? Thanks in advance for your help.

Sir, when The pully is on the NT there is mabe 2" of space fromt the out side of the pully to the final drive plate. I can"t say I have ever tryed to put a regular pully on a NT. But Mabe the spline in the pully is off set more than Regular width? oldiron29

narrow tread pulleys have a deep enough offset that the 'spokes' are almost flush with the outside edge of it. this only allows for about 2 inches between the pulley and the axle drop housing as Oldiron29 stated

I believe you can use a regular pulley on an NT but you will have a bear of a time putting it on. You may have to remove the drive and studs to do it. Once you get it on it will run very close to the drop housing. There may not be room to get the belt on and off.

Thanks for the help guys. This is great and appreciate the details. I will stick to the side of safety and make sure I get a pulley made for the NT Regular. Even 2" for the proper fit type isn't a whole lot.
