I have a 1952 Super M that has been sitting for years and is stuck BAD. I am interested in putting M&W pistons and sleeves in it. I have access to a NOS set of SP77 pistons and sleeves, which are for a 400 over a certain serial number. Will these fit in a 52 Super M? I always thought the blocks were essentially the same for Super M right through the 450. If not, is there anyone who remakes M&W kits or similar kits? Thanks, Jeff

Jeff, I put a set of NOS 4 1/8" M&W Power Dome pistons for a 400 in my SMTA a couple years ago. As D Salater posted, you will need to find a set of rod bushings as the 400s used a larger wrist pin than the SMs. My CIH dealer was able to find a set of bushing @ a dealer in WI. That was the only set they could come up with. Hopefully an aftermarket company still offers them. Best of luck

Jeff, As D Slater posted, you will need a set of bushings to put a set of 400 pistons in a SM. I installed a NOS set of 4 1/8" M&W Power Domes for a 400 in my SMTA a couple years ago. My CIH parts manager looked high & low for a set of the bushings and found a set at a dealership in WI. That was the only set they could find. Hopefully an aftermarket company makes them

If I remember correct, SP-77 pistons have the small piston pin. If installing in a SM, a connecting rod change or installation of adapter piston pin bushings in the SM rods is needed. Also not sure if they would have as much compression with a SM head compared to some of the M&W pistons made for a SM.
