Dumb 66 series question

I've had a couple of 1566's over the years, and never had an occasion to use a single acting cylinder on the remotes, always double. Question: is it even possable to use a single action cylinder on these tractors?

Yes. Just plug the single hose in the top coupling and pull the hyd leaver back to raise. To lower a single action cyl just ease the hyd leaver forword untill the cyl retracts. No need to push your leaver foward too much putting pressure on the other port as you would do on a double action cyl. You can also go all the way down to float but it might let down to fast, with out putting pressure on the other port.

It depends on what you are doing with the single action cylinder. As been said, you can use it with pulling lever back for normal raise, gently go to lower if wanting to go down slow or to float for quick drop. If you want quick drop though, it is best to use the other outlet for raise, pushing lever forward to raise, then float for down and leave it in float if your implement operates correctly in float. At that point, you pull it back to rear out of float to raise. This works really well with a single action cyl on the tail wheel of a semi mounted plow as is the recommended way to hook it. Not so well if you are using on a cyl that you only want to drop and hold part way down.

The reason I ask is because Im finishing up a 3pt conversion on a forklift mast with a single action cylinder on the mast itself, and doubles on the tilt. im using my 400 to work the hydraulics as I can switch those valves from double to single.
