Hi all i got a h im restoring and the top of the radiator is
crushed but doesnt leak any ideas how to pull it bak so my
cap wil fit past the hood thank you

The top of my new radiator from Steiners was pushed in, I took a bar and pried it back up. The metal was thinner on that. I would try anything before getting a new one.

A slide hammer with a right angle "foot" on the end can be placed through the neck, and used to prod the neck back up. Do not concentrate the force, turn it a bit as you work. Slide (dent puller) hammers are available at HF and other places reasonably priced. Jim

How badly crushed? If not too bad, drill a hole for a couple of #12 sheet metal screws, & angle brackets
to use to pull easily on the collapsed top. Is the rad. still on the tractor? If so, a chain hoist or come-along suspended from a joist or hoist can give just a small amount of pull while tapping with a small hammer. Holes can be soldered shut when done.

if the other ideas fail, the rad shop can remove the top and pound it out as you say its crushed. and being a restored item a rad cleanout is the usuall procedure.

Rusted the tank on a H if it is like on a M is crimped. The radiator shops around here say you will ruin the core if you take the tank off. The only way is to recore them. Maybe they are just taking us to the cleaners. Any input from a radiator repairman.

Thanks ill try to pry it up with screws and a slidehammer it is out of the tractor. It puzzles me how the rad is crushed but the grille is fine

i do know that tanks can be removed. but for this H giving a suggestion for the most logical thing to do as he says it a restoration.dont forget once you have the tank drilled with holes they need to be patched and soldered also. i have not seen a whole lot of people that can solder either. thats my 25 cents worth. a good rad person will give good advise. i can usually tell when they are b s ing me.

I am only going by what my neighbor told me. The raidiator repairman said that when you try to recrimp them it breaks off. Just wondering if anyone else has heard that.
