m & w aftermarket govenor

new to farmalls and i have seen m&w governors on eBay from time to time. just curious what an m & w governor would do on an m verses a factory one?
 
They provide more rapid throttle response, which makes it feel like
there is more power. The actual HP of the engine is not affected as
far as I know, just how it seems.

Exactly. There is no way any governor can actually add horsepower, but the M&W governor, with 4 flyweights instead of just 2, will respond to a load a little quicker and keep the engine RPMs up, so it FEELS like more power.

That isn't exactly true. If you increase the rpms you will get more power. That isn't exactly apples to apples though...

True, but the M&W doesn't increase the RPMs, it only responds quicker so the RPMs are not lost. However, the governor settings CAN be tweaked to provide higher RPMs, but you can do that with a stock governor also.
 
Very true. I was just thinking that there is one (and only one) way that I can think of where a gov can change hp.
