reversed 560

I know how to reverse an F-12.Seen lots of reversed H/M,but never a 560.

I know some 560's along with other models were reversed for cotton pickers. I think they had a different transmission cover. I am confident that Wardner would know.

The 560 trans cover is the least of your issues. Notice the mirror-image hole in the cover opposite the shift lever.

What you do need is the reverse shifter forks, and you need to flip the differential over inside the transmission.

Beyond that is the issue of building a custom operator's platform with all the controls accessible.

The lid casting is the same but the machine work on the underside wasn't done. The holes for the three detent springs need to be drilled. I think there are at least six holes that need to be drilled and tapped. There are also several small areas that need to be milled (or ground) flat. When you flip the lid over, that work become evident and is doable by most who read this board.

The shifting forks can be modified by cutting off the forks from the rails and rotating them 180 prior to rewelding. Don't mix them up. The rail detent notches will be out of order.

Delta, I always love seeing pictures of your reversed F. It just fascinates me. What a useful machine!

Maybe someday I will start tinkering on one for me. Until then I will just stare intently at your pics!

Thanks for the kind words...It was a fun project, the first one after the shop was "completed".It was built out 'scrap' and a $25 dollar loader.Go find an old tractor and get after it!You CAN do it! :) Steve

I have a question If you flip the differental over it changes the direction correct? then why does the shifter have to be changed at all the shift pattern would just be upside down because you are facing the other way but would still work? wouldnt it just take a little getting "used to" to learn the pattern but really no different than if you got a different tractor with a different pattern.

If you remove the unused shift cover on the rear frame lid, you will understand. The differential ring gear is directly below that opening. Not enough space for the three shifting rails. So if you change the position of the differential, you have to do the same with the shifter.
