looking at a farmall m that is for sale. serial# is 211916 X. cant find that number on any of these sites. can anyone help.

It falls in one of the ranges for serial number lookups on this site giving you a year of manufacture. An X1 suffix means gasoline engine as opposed to a distillate engine. Sites claim a X1A means low speed gears X1B = 5,000 foot (higher compression to deal with altitude) X1C =8,000 foot pistons.
