I have an 856 International That has Hyds at the cylinder ports and works cylinder implements fine but no three point hitch, what would be the most likely culprit?

That happened to me (1256) once. There is a little valve 'thingy' under the top cover that sheared of a bolt.Take the top link cover off and look up and to the right. You should see it.

Well if the three point is STUCK all the way at the top the draft scening linkage slipped off Like Delta red said remove the top link plate and look to the far right Now i do not think that you have a shearded bolt just linkage that jumped off due to a sudden jolt to the three point arms . But ya never know till ya start looking . Anyway on the far right towards the back you will see a lever -arm what ever ya want to call it coming up from the bottom and you will see a lever hanging down from the top , the one on top is suppose to be on the back side of the one coming up from the bottom , now be for warned the one from the top is heavy spring loaded and can have razor sharp edges i have a hook tool to pull the top back and get it in place. Now on some i have found that the one from the top has a lot of slop and will not stay in place so i weld a 1/2 washer on the arm coming up from the bottom on the far side so that it will not allow the top one to jump to the right and come off.

Thanks I will start at the linkages and go from there sure hope that is all there is to it. Thanks for the replys.

The tractor vet gave you the answer if the hitch is stuck all the way up.

If your hitch is not at the top, it goes down but not up, then the problem is with the unloader valve. The simple way to check is if the hitch works when you hold an auxiliary on demand but not otherwise the unloader valve is the problem. Either a plugged orifice or an O-ring problem.
