My old M&W book says to use Victor gasket # 3149 on any bore over 4.125. Earl

Stock M bore is only 3.875 I just want to know if the stock M gasket will seal and work with the 450 lp head.

Its the same gasket for all of them. The only thing I know some guys do is to use a thinner special made copper head gasket to gain a little more compression too.

You have to deck the block and mill the head to make that happen. Things need to be REALLY true. Ask me how I know...

Test both head gaskets ( M & 450LP) for openings to all water passages both in the block & the head, and the seal around the sleeves !!
Perhaps someone on the pulling forum has more experience as to which gasket part number will work for this head swap.
I know it can be and has been done, I just don't have the part number handy. I know one will work & others won't, just double (even triple)check before you set the head down.

I really doubt the head sizes between the M and the 450LP are the same.

IIRC they are. It is a common pulling trick.
