I have pressure at he two back ports, and the two point works fine, but no pressure at the brakes, steering or clutch.

Is this a symptom of anything fixable.

Your problem is the front or MCV pump & system in TA/clutch housing, back hyd in rear frame is OK. You could have any of a multitude of things wrong in the MCV, key sheared on pump, blown gasket or o-ring, relief cartridge weak or stuck. These 2 systems draw from the common reservoir of Hytran & filter.

or could be as simple as the front pump lost its prime. when/how did the problem start?

I had it stuck in a wet spot and the back of the tractor was tipped down quite a bit. Everything was working when I shut it off.

So I went and got the cat the next morning and pulled it out. Then I had the no hydraulics on the front end of the tractor. If the prime was the problem, how would I fix that?

Do not take it apart: Fill the reservoir with 5 gallons of extra Hytran. It covers the air leak and causes no harm (standard operating procedure.) Jim

I finally wound up with that Jan. I can't thank you guys enough. Here's the whole deal, just in case you need a hillbilly to laugh at - I'll do fine.

I had the problem I described and was piecing together a fix from different posts on the forum. I didn't know what the MVC was, but again wound up at the right part on the tractor. I've had this 806 for 25 years and never had a problem of this type. Tractor's been bullet proof for a long time.

I came up with the over fill from one post, and the bleed on it as being the 5/8 cap on the clutch side, rear of casing below what must be a 1" or 1/8 (about nut).

I overfilled the tranny (which was lower than I thought - my fault) took out the 5/8 cap completely (probably not the thing to do) and used a heater hose to blow air into the tranny case through the fill tube. Started the tractor.

Now a word of advice from someone who now knows -DO NOT STAND IN FRONT OF THAT LITTLE BLEED HOLE WHILE YOU'RE DOING ALL THIS!!

But that's all it took. The prime took hold, sprayed the idiot standing in front of the bleed and now the tractor works fine.

Thanks so much,

Bob

No, Jim. I was just trying to get it figured out. I had no idea what it was, but the fix I was in was pretty obvious. I rely heavily on that 806 - always have.

Lot of relief when it started working again - even with the oil bath I got, lol. Got the field work finished - huge relief.

Thanks for all your help.

Bob
