If its warm out, like in the summer it runs fine. In the fall when its a little cool out, it won"t run hardly at all, it misses, spits, farts, no power at all it will hardly move itself, but if you can keep it running long enough to get the engine hot, it runs fine. Whats the problem?

Another thing, mine was running real cold blooded. I checked out the ignition and it was in bad shape. A set of points, condenser and plug wires, it now runs much better.

Needs the power needle (front bottom of carb) turned out one turn at a time till it runs correctly
Low float level could be low
Partially plugged main jet
Broken or cracked venturi
All or a combination of these are possible issues related to your problem. Jim

Sorry I typed that wrong, if its cool out, it won't run any better if the engine is warmed up. It just plain and simple won't run, if you push it in the shed and let it sit till summer, its fine

Farmall B did same thing. I made a jack around muffler and welded a pipe to the jack and run it to the top of air intake( take cap off air intake). It pulls air from around muffler and warms incoming airto carb. I put it on early fall and remove it in the spring.

Problem's carburetor icing. Very common when temp's between about 30 and 55 and with high humidity. Things that help:

- Use minimum choke when starting. Once the engine's running get the choke full open as quickly as possible.

- Immediately after starting idle the engine at 1/2 throttle for several minutes. Or run it at speed under light/medium load. (DON'T let it idle at slow idle until it's fully warmed up!)

- If the still engine dies after running a couple minutes, wait 5 minutes or so before restarting so heat can soak down from the manifold and warm the carb. Or play a hair dryer on the carb for a couple minutes to warm it up.

- If icing is frequent and extreme, cobb up a hose to draw warm air from around the muffler into the air cleaner inlet.

reminds me of our neighbour when we were kids. when he would start his w-6 in winter he would bring a kettle of boiling water from house and pour it on intake and carb. no power either on his farm, boiled on wood stove. them old people had a cure for everything.

We had a 300u when I was a kid, very cold natured. Also replace the condenser points and cap, check for moisture under the cap.
