can it be? Thinking of buying one. Tractor would be on the planter, probably spring and fall manure speading, spring & fall tillage, blowing snow. Only thing I could think of it would be used for in hot weather would be a little hay work but always less than 20 acres. If a person just added a good extra fan in the cab, wouldnt it be half way comfortable?

If it's alfalfa I'd go for it. Rare to be working the alfalfa in the heat of the day unless mowing.
Open the rear window.and side windoaws.

depends on your climate and your personal ability to take the heat. there are days here (NY) that it gets pretty bad. but I've made do for over 10 years now. keep saying gonna fix it...

on the hot summer days i end up w/ shorts & T shirt, windows open, fan on hi. if you have non-dusty jobs that is ok.

if you are using it mostly in summer and fall, go for it. it's a great tractor.

We have a John Deere 2840 with hiniker cab with no A/C that we use every summer on the haybine. Just open the doors and back window and its actually pretty comfortable. Helps alot just getting out of the sun!

You can get greenhoused pretty bad. It just sucks having a cab and still having to suck all that dust. If it has a/c I would fix it in a hurry.

Cousin and uncle both had 886s purchased new. I cannot imagine working in those cabs with the black lining without AC. The side windows do not open very far. If you took the doors off and opened the back glass all the way it might be tolerable.

AC quit working on my 886 one day while baling. Within 1/2 hour it was so hot in the cab even with the windows open, that I stopped and just took the doors off and laid them to the side. After that, it wasn't too bad. I actually finished out the year without the AC since the leak was in a line that was NOT easy to get at. May want to make sure the TA is functioning properly, and even then who knows how long it will last. Mine was working good in 2008 when I bought the tractor, and it is going in in the next week or so for a new one. Was told to plan for $4500 in expense.

There were two 986s sold at the dealership where I worked. One of them hand an Eagle Air after market system added within a year. The other one is stilled owned by the original owner. I don't think the doors or windows have been on that one for years.
