Need junkyard tips for IA and MN

I am headed out to Bancroft, IA from WI tomorrow. It looks like I could take 20 or 18 in IA or I-90 in MN. All of the routes are within 30 min of each other so I will take the one with the best junkyards. Any tips would be appreciated. I will probably take two different routes so I can see twice as much stuff.

Not sure what they have these days, but had a lot of older stuff years ago...

If you are on US 20, this would be about 25-30 miles north from Manchester... probably closer to Volga than SP. With the 800#, you could always call and see what they have for old IH stuff.

Franzens at Monmouth on Hwy.64 West of Maquoketa has a few combines & tractors. Turn North off 64 at the main street--go till you see the school up on a hill to the right. Turn left & go through a couple of turns & you're there. Total travel off of 64 is less than a mile.

Worthington MN has a big yard, but I don"t know whats in it but I haved seen some old stuff in the past. Also Rock Valley I believe has one too, but that has been years since I was there.

I just got back from a tour of Iowa. If you are pulling a trailer, I would stay off of both 20 and 18. Them Iwejans all think they can out run a loaded 30 trailer, pulled by a Dodge Cummins powered, and they ALL want to get in front of you, just to slow down and drive 54MPH. Wouldn't have been all that bad, but I was 800 miles into a 1000 mile day, and just not in the mood to play their games.

If making a "loop", I think going out one way and returning the other would be okay. I have not been west of I-35 on 20, but it's 4 lane at least from I-35 (and I think a little west) to Dubuque. Any time I've been on it, traffic moved at 70-75... don't know about west of there, but Bancroft isn't very far west of 35.

All states ag parts in FT Atkinson IA
ph#877-530-3010 also have yard in Downing and Black Creek Wisconsin.
I have bought parts from them and their prices are in line with other or better.

Just got to Fort Dodge. Traffic was light and 70ish. Got to d282s exit too late to stop.

I was there on my honey moon. Nice yard!

(quoted from post at 08:57:02 03/07/12) You need to check out Haskin and Miller in Miles before you return home.

I would have liked to go, but it was too far off 20 to justify the trip. I really should have planned a three day trip rather than 2.
