I'm looking at buying an IH 186 but am unfamiliar. I am worried the hydro trans won't hold up. Can any of you with experience give me a clue. Thanks, John

Hydros are great,I love em-owned 3 (Hydro 100,1026,still own a 826).Test the hydro:let it get warm(drive it around the yard alittle),Then, put it in HI range, step on the brakes, smoothly push the SR lever foreward. If it severly loads the engine or kills it,its ok.Drive it right:ie,always 'farm' in low range, only use HI on the road, keep the rpm up.Keep the hydralic oil and filters clean. They are not as efficient as a gear tractor, but will do anything a geartractor will do-from haying to plowing.Dont let the naysayers discourage you, most have never owned or run one.
