'47 H-Battery connection

I am working on a '47 H. This tractor has been sitting in a barn
for several years. The battery that was in it was connected as
Negative-ground. The diagrams show Positive-ground. Not
sure if the guy who worked on it before me knew what they
were doing. I plan to replace the cables due to corrosion.
Should I rebuild it as Negitive-ground or Positive-ground and is
there a possibility of some damage due to reverse polarity?

The tractor and the starter really do not care if it is negative or positive ground, but if you want it to be original, and IF it still has the 6 volt generator, then connect it as a positive ground.
