1456 demo question

We recently bought a 1970 1456 with 4800 original hours on it. Today while changing air filters on it, we noticed that the air filter lid had gold paint on it. After scratching on it some more we found more gold paint on the tractor. My question is was the air filter lid suppose to be gold to! Thanks for any help!

It may have been so that when you looked through the grill in the hood you would see gold and not red.

Is the casting that makes up the "dash" painted black???

Yeah if that casting is black underneath and you find gold paint under the red you might have struck gold. What is the serial number just out of curiosity?

The Gold Demos are in demand and are not easy to find.More than one has been found after it was purchased.I am not an expert but I was told they had black dashes and were late 1970s and were not recorded by serial number.There have been some that could be called clones as they are painted gold.The real ones have pictures of the gold similar to what you have.The 14s are one of the top ones after 544 s

The serial puts it at a 1970 model like you said, it would be nice if you could come up with some documentation on the demonstrator use...Restored to a gold demo with documentation that its the real mccoy that could be a $30,000 or more tractor.
