460/560 pedastal

The M, SM, 400, 450 or 560 pedastal will bolt to the 706/756 bolster but the wheel bearings are different. You can change out the axle itself. A 460 pedastal will not bolt to the 756. The H, SH, 300, 350, and 460 pedastal will bolt on a 656 but there again the bearings are different.

560 and 460 and 450 along with some other lower bolsters have the same bolt pattern at the top. Wheel bearings, spindle and hub sizes and strength varies. 460 spindle is the weakest.

So when I install hubs I'll need to install the wheel bearings that are correct for the 706/756 hubs.

I believe you will find that the 460 pedastal has the same bolt pattern at the top as the H and the 450/560 pedastal has the same bolt pattern at the top as the M.

I have had the same NF on a 460 560 706 and a 856. There is a heavy built and light built.

The bearings are larger on the heavy one. Bolt patterns for rims are all the same.

I don't remember if the spindles were the same size or not. Or if the larger bearings were on a larger spindle or if the hubs were just bigger.

Harold thats a common mistake made by IH followers. Farmall 460 and 560 use the same upper bolster and the same steering shaft that the lower bolster bolts to.

So will the pedastal on a 400, 450, 460, and 560 bolt to a 756? With all the input from everyone I'm a little confused. :?

DSlater,

I stand corrected. I always thought the 460 had the H four bolt size bolt pattern. What about the 656? I also thought it had the H size four bolt pattern.

Harold

656 has the same bolt pattern as a M, 460, 560, etc. I'm not familiar with a narrow front on all the later tractors. On the wide fronts though, lots use the same steering arm bolted to steering shaft that started out on a SMTA wide front.

wbecouse of a lowere pull tractors n we run a 460 frt bolster with 140 front rims to loose weight n it is lighter supposedly than the the 560 becouse its shorter, the 560 up r taller in heavier.
