axle removal

any tips on removing axle stuck on bull gear on a 300 utility? Could only move it 1/16".

Jack bolt and pipe between axles with inside retaining bolt removed from the axle to be removed or a portapower press.
No disrespect intended but I better ask if you removed the bolt and large washer from the inside end of the axle.
Run into extreme ones a couple of times that I was afraid something in the housings was going to give before the axle moved in the splines.
Once had to remove axle and housing on the other side and rig up a big jack to push out.
