966 hydro acting funny

I just installed a new dampner plate and a new hydro input shaft into the transmission of my tractor, i went to start it put today for the first time and it is jerky when it moves and it will only move ahead, there is no reverse at all just forward whichever way i move the lever, is there some adjustment i need to make?

I had something similar happpen when I replaced the damper plate and input shafton my 966 hydro. In my case the variable orfice plug had fallen out of the pump servo. If you have the IHC Hydro Service Manual it describes how to fix it. If you don"t have the maunal you can find it at the link below. Page 65 decribes the problem and possible solutions. Good Luck.

is it possible to remove the servo cylinder with without having to tear the hydro back apart?

You can drain the oil in the case and remove a plate on the bottom of the case to access the servo. I think you will also need to remove the side cover as well. The Hydro service manual in the link I provided, tells how to remove the the servo"s. You shouldn't have to completely remove the pump servo to reinsert the plug (If that is your problem).
