H Fan Belt Pulley

I have the screw loose, but before I start whanging away on this million-dollar pulley, it is right-hand threads, right?

Also if you have one, use a brass or aluminum punch. Less likely to break the casting.

Yes, it is right handed.

I just held the one side and turned the other with the fan would tighten it up so it stayed cool and run gen/alt belt. might have to use a pair of channel locks. No need to hit it.

They are tough and often need a few days of penetrant and a warming (not hot) with propane. Tighten only till the belt can be pushed 1.25 inches with max thumb pressure, they are not designed to be tighter! From not pushing to full push measurement. Jim

To be sure, take the screw all the way out. Then use your best penetrant and give it time. Be real careful if using a hammer and punch. Much better to use a large pair of channellocks and try to loosen using the fan for leverage. Be patient, lots easier than replacing the water pump and pulley.
