Plowing with the old stuff

Yes i now, that is because when you are plowing along the rows you can plug the plow with corn leftovers and the plowing will not be as good.

We always disked our cornstalks before plowing, so the ridge was gone and the stalks cut up. Also disked in the fall so the stalks deteriorated in the ground over the winter. Of course these days almost everything is no-till, so they chop the stalks and plant without plowing. Wife's cousin farms 21 irrigated quarters in central Kansas (one that my wife used to own) and does not even own a disk or plow... everything is no-till corn or beans.
