Hydraulic Pump

I have a '44 H with a hydraulic pump mounted near the distributor. This tractor is only going to be used for a parade once a year and for occasional riding on the back roads on the weekend. I will not be using hydraulics for anything, so I would like to either eliminate the pump, or cap the lines and get rid of the hydraulic hoses. What are my options? Thanks.

One option- find a H with the belly pump and buy the distributor and housings to retro fit yours, should be able to get enough for your distributor and pump to pay for the new parts. It would look normal and not cause you problems unless you want/need hydraulics later.

That pump and distributor is of interest to many on here. Offer to trade directly for a good IH brand distributor for an H, it will replace the entire setup and be tidy. Jim

You should be able to get 2-300 for the pump and distributor. You can pick up an adapter and distributor for a lot less.

It is nice to have hydraulics on a tractor, why do you want it removed? You might never know when you would want to lift something.

I've never seen a hydraulic pump "piggybacked" onto a Delco distributor like yours is, but all of the Delcos I have seen have a cover where that pump is located, so it should be as simple as removing the pump and then installing the cover instead. Are there any markings or logos on that pump? Is it a true live hydraulic pump or is it intended to provide power steering only?

You DO NOT want to just disconnect the hoses because then the pump would be running dry which could cause it to lock up and stop you dead in your tracks.

Looks like a pump sold by M&W, # 1PX. Made them to use a delco or IH distributor in the verticle.
Sold the kit for H,SH,W4,SW4 and also sold the pump and distributor drive as a universal kit for any tractor with a SAE ignition drive mounting.
