Tractor Pull

I went to the Tractor Show and pull in Eagleville Tn this past week end and pulled with my H. I only wanted to pull to see what it felt like since I had never pulled before. They put me first in the 4500# class, I have pulled all kinds of Farm machinery, logs, trees and everything else, but I have never felt anything like that sled, when I started the pull it felt like I was tied to a big Oak Tree that wasn't going to move.My H hung in there and although it wasn't A Spectactular pull it satisfied me,My Grandson was with me and kept saying Grandpa it never did quit. IF you have not tried it you should lots of fun. ED

farmall ed which one were you? there were a lot of red machines pulling, and green too never seen any fords hahaha, really a great show,my first time ever watchin the pulls, just what was the horn for? had a blast watching the kids pull with the peddle tractors, never stayed all day maybe next year

You're pushing me a little further towards trying it.

I've been staying away from it. At first I had no real interest. Then over time I got a little more interested, but I keep telling myself that the LAST thing I need is another hobby to spend money on.

But my 13 year old son has been eyeballing the old lawnmower, thinking of pulling with it in the garden tractor class...

That may turn out to be an entry way into it for me. Because you KNOW once he hits 16 a garden tractor just isn't going to cut it for him. And if HE's doing it, there's no way I'm not going to.

Great to hear a first time experience like yours - thanks for sharing.

It was late around 6:15 when I Pulled. My Tractot was all shined up for the show. I had been thinking about it for a long time, but a little sceptal didn't want to damage my Tractor, But it came through it real well,I really enjoyed it as well as the rest of the show.Ed

Sounds fun ! I have been wanting to try it myself some day. Just curious, what gear were you in, and did you use the standard swinging drawbar to hook to. How about wheel wieghts, did you have them or not? Thanks ~ Mike

I pulled in first gear and I have a regular set of weights on the rear with water in the tires, No weight extra in front, It never did rear up or spin and when it pulled all the way down to almost quit I pushed the clutch down, no trouble stoping!!!! it's gotcha.Ed

Yup, my little girl likes pulling too! :) This is from New Boston, NH this past weekend. First class, first pull....was good for third place in the 3K class.

Stumpy

exactly what I'm afraid of!

but... on the other hand... my kids are both in 4h and we're already at different fairs every weekend showing cows and goats and chickens...

Might be nice if I had something to do other than sitting around doing nothing but eating fair food.

So, as you can see, I'm VERY close to getting sucked in.

Pulling has gotten to me also. We have two pulls in NE Missouri that go by plow classification not weight. There are rules as to what one can and cannot do.
A tractor must be at least 50 years old. Only two weights per wheel. Cannot add weights to the front unless it was standard equipment. Must go in 1st gear. One that is hard to control: The tractor must be in it's original condition (not soupped up)
