Just finished painting a C with PPG 70019 and am very pleased with the color. The next tractor will be a 300U and the customer remembers it as a dark shade of red. There are unexposed places that do have a dark shade of red on them. I understand that the correct paint would be IH's 1102b which there is no present day code. Which of the present choices is a darker shade, the 50/70019 or the 2150/71310?

I have seen more than one 00/50 series that had a dark shade of red. I figured it just darkened over time from the normal red???

I think 50/PPG 70019/DuPont 7410 is supposed to be the "light" color, I have not used or seen it. However 2150/PPG 71310/Dupont 96766 is NOT dark, or for sure 2150/71310 is not, I have not used 96766. 2150 to my eyes has an orange tint that I have more or less gotten used to. If you like 50/70019 then use it. Regardless of all the hoopla about dark reds, I am not sure IH ever had a dark red, and the exact colors are impossible to find now because of EPA changes in formulation. I'm going to stick with 2150/71310, regardless of the year.

Thanks for the input. It's not going to be up to me, but the customer which shade he likes best. I'll have to go to my paint guy and see if he has these shades in a color book somewhere. If the 71310 is darker, then I bet that is what he will go with.
