350 Parts Tractor

I have the chance to get a 350 that has been parked for 40+ years. It has been outside all this time, my question, I have a 44 H and would like use some of the parts on it. I am pretty sure I can use the hyd. pump right? What about changing the brakes over to the disk type, or am I just looking for more trouble than I need. I'll set back and listen to you experts.

Thanks, Jay

You should be able to use the hydraulic pump but you'll also need the timing gears (I'm not sure if the ones from the 350 will work or not) because the load from the live hyd pump will take out the stock timing gears fairly quickly. As to the brakes I don't know if you'd be gaining anything by swapping to the discs as they seem to be fairly maintenance intensive. Someone who knows more will be able to give you a better idea. Best of luck, Sam

TO use the pump, you will need the front cover, and all the gears, as your 44 will not be strong enough. (the aluminum original will be liable to break when needed most.) the cover will fit the bolt pattern.
To use the brakes the whole rear end and Trans/TA would be needed. making an HTA. Pretty engineering intensive. The disk brakes are not as good as the band brakes They are high maintenance, and far less reliable. They are not the same "disk" brakes that are on cars at all. Jim

Not much is the same. Jim is right about the hyd pump, the disc brakes are impossible--as Jim says they will not bolt right on. Sheet metal, seat, wheels, transmission are all different. Air cleaner, manifold, distributer might bolt on. Not too good of an idea.

Hi Jim: Your comment about early IH disk brakes was 'Right-on.'...

Thanks for the replies, The TA is shot on the tractor anyway. I think I'll just pass on this tractor... I would love to find a good running tractor as I have always love the 50 series tractors.
