42 H, Dual Fuel?

After just aquiring my Dad's tractor, I am trying to look it over. I'm identifying what is right and what is wrong.

I am wondering if it was possibly a dual fuel option tractor. It is not so at this present time. All of you would know WAY better than I, so that is why I am asking. I don't have pictures yet but I can explain what is leading me to think so.

In the hood, ahead of the water temp cut out, there is a round hole approx 3" in dia. It looks like it might have been for another fuel filler neck? (There is nothing underneath it, it's just a hole in the hood on top) Just left of the brake pedals, there is a little lever with a label that says "OPEN" with an arrow. (Was this for a luver system out front?) There is also a linkage/lever through the front cross hole in the magneto.

There is only the normal fuel tank on it and just the normal carb. Also there are no luvers on it at this time. It's just got signs of something else and I don't know what it is for sure. If it was dual fuel, is there any way I can restore it back to how it was or am I better to just get a different hood and make it like it was never there?

Thanks guys! Due to the help here I have already ordered some other replacement parts and they are on the way. I'll try to get pictures soon.

The rod is to open shutters that were inbetween the engine and radiator to help warm up the engine and the hole is where the small distillate tank went. Sounds like your're only missing a few parts and they aren't terribly hard to find. Got a few pics of mine before I restored it of what you should have. I have the tank but no shutters on mine.

Here's the pieces you would need to fill in the empty places.

Keep finding pictures. One is the bottom of the small tank and the other is the linkage that goes to the shutters infront of the driver. To hook up the small tank you would normally have a sediment bowl with 2 inlets. 1 coming from the small tank and where it scres into the bottom of the big tank.

Nice!

It looks like our may be different by a few years. My starter switch is lower and center. My run/kill switch is higher and on the left of the post, where your starter switch is.

I get the general idea though. It definately looks like I am missing some pieces. I will try and get some pictures up soon.

Yep mine is a 46. Really unless you want it to a show condition You could probly forget about the shutters. The tank kinda fills out everything and makes a conversation piece for those who don't know what it is.
