Think It Will Work?

Hi Guys,

The retainer pin on my 1066's injection pump fell out. Lost 2 gallon of oil before I noticed it. What a black, oily mess all over the left side of the tractor!

Anyway, the only way to get that part is to find another pump body or more expensive yet, install a rebuilt pump. Really didn't wanna spend that kind of money.

Weird size too, just under 5/16 in diameter.

I scrounged around and found an old connector link pin which just fit the hole, fashioned an oversized screwdriver-type tip on one end to fit that groove in the tappet thingy, then cut it to length. Cleaned it up and and doped it with sealer.

Constructed a retainer bracket out of a piece of strap iron and filled the old sis with oil.

Total cost ended up being 30 minutes of my time. Gonna try it this afternoon and see what happens. Fingers are crossed. :>)

It isn't pretty, but maybe it will seal up that gapping hole. Before and after pictures:

I assume you made the hole in the strap iron a little slotted so you could push the bent end really tight against the new pin.
