This message is for Bob M who had posts about a smta lp serial#65692 back in April 2011. What would I expect to see on this tractor if it had been equipped with a high drum cotton picker? What is a high drum cotton picker? Does the tractor run forward or backward when this is attached? Any info you have would be appreciated.

If this tractor had ever been under a high drum picker, the most noticable thing you would see would be flange type rear axle housings (if they have not been removed). These flange type housings are used to mount the bull gears which both raise the tractor and reverse the direction of operation of the tractor. The high drum pickers had picking heads with bars that had 20 spindles each. In contrast, the low drum pickers had bars with 14 spindles each and reversed the tractor direction by changing the transmission top shift forks and flipping the differential.
