I'm trying to remove the pump to clean and inspect it , and it won't come down . I have the two bolts out of the side of the block , is there anything else holding it up there ? I should be able to twist it side to side and slide it down , right ? Thanks guys ........

You most likely will have to take a short length of 2x4 about 18" long and jar it with a hammer after the two bolts are out. Lay the 2x4 up along side the block at an angle and you can catch the top side of the pump barely. There is not much room to rotate it. I had to spray mine with liquid wrench and whack the fire out of it. Took about three pieces of wood too! My engine was locked up. Only way I could figure without making some kind of puller comtraption.

Have someone roll the crank shaft as you pull and wiggle the pump. The cam gear will turn with the crank and help to spit it out. Its tight.

Truckinthumb: That's part of my problem , the engine is seized up tite ,and I'm trying to get some room to drive the pistons up... I guess I'll keep slugging away at it. Thanks guys !!

Take the bottom of the pump off to make sure the pump is not seized. The pump shaft needs to rotate as it is removed from the camshaft. If the pump shaft can not turn you will break something by forcing the pump down.

Yes that is a good point! I was lucky enough that the oil pump was the only thing that was NOT rusted tight!! LOL! I put my engine on my engine stand and rotated it upside down. To let it soak.
