Price Range for an A

Going to an auction this weekend with an H, a W6 and an A. Looked at them already and they all look nice and sound good. The A is the one that interests me. It's straight with fair paint, about 75% tires and sounds good. Any idea what the price range might be? I paid $1600 for my 39 H with loader and then paid $2300 for my 53 Super H but it was really clean and runs like new. Want to bid on the A but would like to know the limits before I get in too deep. Any input appreciated. Thanks, Tom

I'm not even getting involved here. You pay what you
want. If you are happy, I'm happy. Just don't plan
on selling it and getting your money back. The used
tractor market is all gone to heck.

I bought my A in northwest Ohio last year. Good shape with turf tires and converted to 12 volt for $900.00. But this area is cheap on tractors. Good luck bidding

I paid $1200 for my 39 A. It runs like a clock and starts on two
pulls of the crank. I did a lot of cosmetics and put new tires and
rims on it. I'm happy.

you are right cowman,Seems to me that antique restored tractors have dropped 30 to 40% in last 6 years. The muscle 60's& 70's seem to have picked up interest. Do you think its do to aging generation of 40's&50's and next generation is coming of age to be interested in what they grew up driving?? Tony

I wouldn't get too wild on the bidding. They may have someone from the auction bidding against you to run up the price. I would wait until the bidding was about over and then decide if you want to bid more. I paid $100.00 for this A back in 1975, but it needed a lot of work. It came with the 16-inch moldboard plow too. Hal
