hello to all, whats the diference of gas to LP ,pistons and heads. all i did is added a carburator to my 560 LP and a few months later its dead. I needed to get the job done. thanks for any help. gaston

LP tractors run a higher compression then a typical gas tractor. Not sure why it is "dead". Did you check the compression for all the cylinders? Pistons may be the same as a gas but I believe the head is what gives you the higher compression.

thanks ,around here not to many people know about tractors ,and there is no salvage yards near by.looks like ebay time.thanks pat

Tractor pullers run gas through LP components all the time. I doubt that is what caused the problems.

Actually, it IS very likely that he killed it if he blindly stuck a carburetor on it and ran the pi$$ out of it.

This is one of those touchy 6-cylinder, high-compression, high-RPM engines that tractor vet is always talking about. If he didn't run 93 octane fuel, he roasted the engine. If he didn't use low ash oil, he roasted the engine. If he didn't maintain the ignition and keep the timing dead nuts on, he roasted the engine.

If in fact the LP engine is higher compression in the 6-cylinders like everyone is saying, then it was even touchier than normal when it was converted to gas.

Gaston if you have designs on fixing the engine with the level of knowledge you've displayed thus far, you are setting yourself up for more disappointment. You can't just slap new sleeves and pistons in and expect it to hold up.

(quoted from post at 08:51:54 05/13/11) Define "dead". No spark? No fuel? Locked up? No compression? No oil? No water? No battery?

You forgot the optional "inspection hole" in the block

OK,here it goes .it has a nice blue spark, low ash oil,91 octane(people look at me funny when i tell them whats for)check the timing twice, clean the carb (put a carb kit in it),install all new spark plugs, wires, condenser, points, cap and rotor.the old spark plugs #5 and # 6 had a little bit of oil on them.it cranks and fires for a second and thats it ,thats all it does and wont do it again until later the next day.no black smoke. my little brother told me that it's jealous of the 706 diesel that we pick up two months ago.is there anything that is done diferently in the tractor worl that i mist.thank you all . gaston

I WOULD TAKE A CLOSE LOOK AT THE COIL I HAD A C THAT WOULD RUN GOOD FOR 3-4 MIN.--EVERY PROBLEM THAT YOU HAVE LOOKED AT SHOWED UP --CHECK IT WHEN ITS HOT AND ADD A RESISTOR
