Thanks to all who responded to previous post. I think I was wrong about noise coming coming from oil pump gears. After listening again, I think what I'm hearing is coming from the oil pump pinion gear. It's not grinding or knocking, just a whirring sound that disappears after a couple of minutes. If the tractor is used all day with repeated starting and stopping, the sound does not come back. Wondering if a heavier oil might make a difference.(It has 30 wt. in it now.) You would not hear this with a straight pipe. Even tho' I love the sound of F30's with a straight pipe, I would prefer not going deaf.
