setting up a fast hitch plow

Is there a good online reference for setting a plow up properly? I have a fast hitch plow behind my 300. It does a good job but you can tell every second furrow (two bottom plow) is slightly different than the other. I am having trouble identifying the plow model. Hopefully the pict will attach (it is actually a 3-bottom with the third bottom removed). Thanks!

On a 300, you can't plow without the 2.5" x 8" horizontal hydraulic cylinder that is the depth control. That cylinder is mounted ahead of the axle on the right side.

Do you have it? Next adjustment is the lift link adjusting screw on the right side of lift. After that, there is the rear trailing wheel.

Another important thing is the setting of the right rear tractor wheel. The inside of the wheel has to be set so that both molboards are cutting the same width furrow. Al

Is that horizontal cylinder in addition to the vertical cylinder that is back by the pto? My dad has a 300 and a C20 plow that we want to plow with for a plow day. His has a handle with different notches on the left side just ahead of the axle is a type of depth control as well I think.

If my memory serves me right the wheel setting must be 64" center to center for a two 16 or three 14 plow. Next the plow has to be set dead level with the right wheel in a plow furrow. To get the plow to plow, the side level tilt and the front to rear level tilt have to be balanced so that the plow pulls itself into the soil. Ideally the cutter bars should be dead level and flat on the ground, but in some cases when the soil is dry and or hard (heavy) the points have to be a little lower than the rear of the bars. If one of the plows is running deeper than the other you use the tilt adjustment to get the cutter bars as level as possible with both plows at the same depth. Since your plow is not reversable, you should be able to plow as smooth as a paved parking lot.

your plow is a 309, made into a 209. i am putting a NOS 209 together for a plow day.
are you putting it on a farmall 300, or international 300 utility? the hitches are different. the farmall needs the 2nd cylinder that wardner mentioned. the utility needs to have the pins on the front of the fast hitch sockets removed so the hitch can flex. both models have levelling screws for side to side adjustment. the plow should be level side to side and front to back, when the right tractor tire is in the furrow.

my 209 is missing the bracket for the tail wheel. if you could take a picture of it, i might be able to make up something that would work to hold the tail wheel axle to the plow.
