706 Smoking Bad

We had the pump and injector rebuilt. Re timed the valve tappets and it smokes bad. Acts like it is a little riche. Any ideas on what it may be?

1st, color of the smoke? White=unburned fuel, blue/grey=oil, black=too much fuel.

If white or black....

Did you check the compression? A lot of times a rebuilt pump and injectors will put the correct amount of fuel in the engine that because of valve of ring condition it's no longer able to get a good burn or just the injector pump was rebuilt but the injectors themselves need redone. (white smoke). Other thought would be that the pump is turned up to high (black smoke).

If it's blue/grey then you have an oil problem. Could be stuck or worn oil control rings or valve seals.
