What is this piece on my MD platform?

What is this piece of metal on the back fo the platform? If I remember correctly it is right on the middle bolt. That doesn't mean much because I think the rear light is supposed to be on the left and it is on the right so things were obviously changed.
Anyhow, what is it!?! Special equipment stuff? Battery box mount? Light stuff?

I had seen not the same! But like that with rod and loop that came up behind seat with plow trip rope tied to it. Could be homemade add on?

I forgot to mention the guy I got the tractor from was a HUGE tinkerer. He has a DC Case with a HUGE motor in it and he built his own 4wd tractor 60 years ago. He called it the Euclid. He was a neat old guy!
 
Can't see where it goes, but I believe it would normally be the PTO control rod.
Does your tractor have a PTO?

Yes, that is the PTO rod attatched to the left most bolt. I mean the piece between the PTO rod and the rear light.
 
Looks like something someone has bolted on and only the person that did it can tell you why.

Darn, I was hoping for the elusive rear battery box mountings. I guess I will still keep my eye out for unicorns and sasquatch.
 
I'd say with the extra hole closer to the seat bracket not in use, it was just something someone had lying around and used it to tie something on. Way to low for a plow rope, unless the operator had gorilla arms.
