Trans Gear Oil

Still have not totally solved the knock in my Super A transmission when clutch pedal is out. Ran it a bit yesterday, was not quite as bad and also quiten down after running a while. I'm thinking the cold weather has something to do with it although temps here are usually 20's at night and 30's during day. Am thinking of changing to synthetic gear oil. Anyone have experience with this and what where your results?

I run 80W90 in all mine. For all the faster these things turn and the little heat generated, I am not sure that synthetic is worth the price.

My opinion. Make sure you have the correct amount in the tranny case.

If you leave the tractor outside, you'll be changing the oil often. Synthetic would be a waste of money, as you'll never use the tractor enough to break the oil down before it's contaminated with water.

Weird you say that. I remember we have a similar noise with your Super A, and my C, though my C didn't do it in Neutral. Today I fired it up to move it, and with it a little warmer out (near 40 today) the noise didn't seem as frequent or loud, though it was still there. As far as gear oil, I would just use 80/90.
