706 floods on hill

706 floods when the machine leans to the right or going up a steep hill. Tried the float by lowering it. Only thing that has helped is turning the gas shut off almost all the way off not letting as much gas flow.

Does the float consist of two tanks?

My 8N was doing it when right side was high. One of the float tanks was partially collapsed just a small amount. Replacing the float fixed it.

Did you check the float to see if any gas was in one of the tank(s)?

First I would double check my float height, a little goes along way. Second while I was checking the I would make sure the needle seats correctly and moves freely. Lastly I would check the choke switch on the bowl to make sure it's not stuck open.

Take float off and shake it I bet there is gas inside float making it heavy if that's the find, replace it and put in inlet needle and seat also as they act up.Scott

It has done this since I purchased the tractor and I rebuilt the carb. and new float. Nothing I have tried has helped except turning down the valve coming from the tank.

With the carburetor on the tractor, can you remove the bowl? If so, shut off the gas supply, remove the bowl leaving the float, etc, intact.

Then hold the float up (shutting off the needle/ seat. Turn on the gas and see if gas is somehow bypassing the needle and seat.

Did you replace the needle valve and seat? Is the float set at the specified height? Is the float NOT rubbing on the sides of the fuel bowl so as to restrict movement?

Do not guess at the float height. The engineers who designed that carb got paid pretty good money to figure out the optimum float height setting and we common grease monkeys are only fooling ourselves if we think we can outguess them.

Here's a little hint. With the carburetor off, hold it up to your ear and turn it upside down, and then rightside up again. You should be able to HEAR the float moving. If you can't hear it moving, it is hanging up on the sides of the carb. Also, put your mouth on the fuel inlet fitting while holding the carb right side up and blow into the fitting. You should notice only a slight amount of resistance. Now, turn the carb upside down and blow again. If the float and needle valve are working correctly, you WILL NOT be able to blow into the fitting.

Yes I put everything new inside. I have a book and it showed how to set the float by turning it upside down and measure off the bowl. I could not tell if it was rubbing or not. Thinking about setting the float lower .
