1) What oil to use, since I can't find straight 30-weight, for my '43 H.
2) I have a worn shift lever, that once allowed the transmission to lock into road gear. Can this be fixed? How?
Thanks, guys.

I use straight 30wt. in everything except the diesel. 300U's, Cub, Super A, H, JDA, Chev Caprice, Ol' Chev Pkup. Have for years without tearing down one engine. Just because I'm a simple guy and can't figure out oil with more than one number on the bottle.

The others are correct, 30 wt detergent is available everywhere including my local Sparten grocery store who sells me cases for cost.

Where have you looked? Local TSC, O'Riellys, Auto Zone, Walmart, K Mart, etc. all have it around here. TSC even has it in 2 and 5 gal. containers.

Still, any good multi-weight 10-30, 10-40 or 15-40 should be okay.

Same oil as your car/truck. 10-40, or 15-40 They do not need 5-wt anything, but regular quality oil is excellent.

The tip of the shifter lever (inside the trans) needs to be built up and shaped to size to fit the slots better. See archives for pictures and process. Jim
