Hello Guys, On a F 400, Hydraulic looses prime every time I shut off tractor for hour or so. I prime by sealing around air bib and blowing air into dip stick opening in reservoir while tractor running and it picks up prime and works good until I shut and start next time. Do you think it's pump going bad or other problem in system? Where do I begin to trouble shoot??? T.I.A.

More thal likely it is a pinhole in the intake pipe from the reservoir to the pump (larger diameter suction pipe or hose) If it is leaking air, it might not leak fluid. Orings where they attach to either end can be bad, and the hose can have broken layers that suck air and flap shut to prevent leaks from showing up. Careful use of a squirt oil can filled with hytran, and good light, with it running can find spots sucking in air. If there are wet spots on the suction hose, clean them and use some black vinyl tape to temporarily stop the suction leak. If it works, replace the hose/line.
